What is FFA?
Finland Futures Academy (FFA) is a national education and research network in the field of futures studies for universities. The network is coordinated by Finland Futures Research Centre at University of Turku, and it has 16 member universities. The operation is funded mainly by the Ministry of Education.
The central idea is to produce tuition in futures studies and promote operating and teaching methods from the member universities. The network has its basis in the extensive and multidisciplinary scope of futures studies, and making effective use of this offers a whole new possibility for creating education and research modules.
Interaction between the different disciplines occurs naturally through the cooperation of experts active in the network. FFA aims to be a pioneer in the development of content, tuition and research in a multidisciplinary field, and the various dimensions of multidisciplinarity have been taken into account in the operation.
The goal of FFA is the increasing and channelling of quantitative and qualitative information and know-how relating to the future for the use of, e.g. social decision-makers and other target groups. Another goal is to gradually expand into an international network (World Futures Academy).
